Nashville Capital Network Helps Launch Spirit Broadband, LLC
Nashville, TN (June 21, 2007) – Investors in Nashville Capital Network have announced the creation of Spirit Broadband, LLC, a new communications company providing Internet, video and digital services in the state.
Formed with the purchase of Cumberland County Cable, Inc., whose network encompasses more than 7,000 homes in Cumberland County and parts of Crossville, Tennessee, Spirit Broadband will provide expanded services within a reliable network in the Middle Tennessee area. While a purchase price was not disclosed, the transaction was financed with a combination of bank and seller debt with equity investment from individual investors.
This transaction, involving an existing asset, is the first of its kind for Nashville Capital Network, whose investors typically fund early-stage, high-growth companies.
“Our investors partnered with a strong management team to purchase an asset with tremendous growth potential,” said Sid Chambless, Nashville Capital Network’s Executive Director. “We look forward to a successful partnership and future.”
“We are very pleased to partner with individuals in Nashville Capital Network,” said Pat Parker, Spirit Broadband company spokesperson. “They provided valuable guidance throughout the transaction and ultimately helped us fund the company with investors who will provide strategic support in addition to the capital needed to bring the latest technology and services to our customers.”
According to Parker, the majority of the current Cumberland County system is “two-way” at 750 MHz bandwidth, meaning it is capable of providing Internet and digital services. Spirit Broadband will be wired to offer a triple play solution.
“Spirit’s new system will offer voice, data and video as a bundle package to our customers,” Parker said. “We intend to update the system and improve the product offering to Spirit’s existing and future customers.”
Chambless added, “We are confident the Spirit Broadband team will maximize the potential of the new system and generate great returns for investors, as well as provide a cutting edge product in the market.”
